Last week we heard plenty of rumors about Apple having cut orders for the new iPhone 5 due to lower than expected demand. Despite the rumors, the well-connected Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities cites supply chain checks and says Apple shipped some 52 million iPhone units in Q4 to be up 93 percent quarter-on-quarter and up 41 percent year-to-year. The main product lines like the iPhone and iPad are expected to remain strong, specific devices within those lines may fall short of expected sales.
The shipments of the newest iPhone 5 hit more than 35 million units, while the iPhone 4S and 4 followed far behind at 9.5 million and 7.3 million, respectively. Overall, Apple is expected to have moved over 140 million smartphones in 2012, led by strong iPhone 4S shipments of some 74 million units during the first half of the year.
Now lots of old iPhone (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, even iPod touch) users are hoping that they could be able to get hands onto Apple’s new personal assistant feature Siri sometime in the near future without having to upgrade the phone.

After waiting for ten months, Apple fans will finally get the white version of iPhone 4, which will come in the market in the next few weeks. The white iPhone will be available from AT&T Inc. and Verizon Wireless by the end of April.
Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of marketing, indicated last month that a white model would be available soon, writing on Twitter that it would be on sale by spring. It is said that Apple has resolved the manufacturing challenges, including paint that peeled under heat.
Apple intends to unveil the new iPhone in September instead of at its June developers’ conference, according to Mike Abramsky, an analyst at RBC Capital Markets in Toronto.
Now lots of news has shown that the long-expected iPhone 5 will not be making an appearance in the summer. But Apple will bring out something equally impressive – White iPhone 4.

iPhone 5 has been in the trial production, reported by China Times and will be produced in the 3rd Quarter of this year. The additional information from the Chinese newspaper seems to prove the previous rumors that the iPhone 5 will be in a metal chassis to improve antenna sensitivity as well as a 4-inch touch screen.
The new iPhone 5 is like an iPhone 4 frame pointed by lots of the rumors so far. Concluded from old rumors, an iPhone 5 parts video that surfaced back in January may have actually been an early look at the iPhone 5 casing (photo above).
Actually the video first revealed the new antenna dividers found on the Verizon iPhone, but also included a SIM card slot which does not appear in the Verizon iPhone. So people believe that the iPhone 5 may support both CDMA and GSM networks. A Qualcomm chip that can support both networks is found out to use in the verizon iPhone.
The white iPhone 4 has been delayed for half of a year because of the color consistency problems with the device’s backlight leaking out around and/or through the white body of the device. Now people began to forget the white iPhone 4 and pay attention to the coming iPhone 5. Report shows that Apple has not given up developing white iPhone 4.
According to Macotakara, a new Japanese-developed painting material is responsible for fixing the white model’s production woes. The new material allows for the thickness of the painted layer to be specified prior to application, which apparently results in better yields and fewer defective products. The white iPhone 4 has been spotted on the websites and in inventory systems of several iPhone 4 retailers and carriers, suggesting that Apple will be able to hit its previously-announced Spring 2011 timeframe for the launch of the device.

There is no doubt that the leading roles of smart phone market are iPhone and Android phone. In 2010, Apple released iPhone 4. While other mobile phone manufacturer also announces many wonderful Android phones. Among all these Android phones, Motorola Droid X is recognized as the machine emperor. Now I will have a comparison between the Droid X and iPhone 4.
Motorola Droid X is much larger than iPhone 4 in size. The Droid X owns a 4.3 inch touch screen. While the 3.5 inch screen of iPhone 4 seems much tinier than the Droid X. However, screen resolution of iPhone 4, which is 640*960, is better than that of Droid X. Both iPhone 4 and Droid X is very thin. The fuselage thickness of Droid X is 9.9mm, which is 0.6mm thicker than that of iPhone 4.
The most essential difference of Droid X and iPhone 4 is the operating system. Droid X adopts the Android 2.1. While iPhone 4’s OS is the iOS 4.2. The superiority of Android is the expandability. It has numerous third-part applications. The iOS is a closed system. Inheriting the consistent tradition of Apple, the iOS is simply enough that even beginners can play it easily.
The iPhone 4 sports a 5-megapixel camera sensor with an LED flash. The camera supports tap-to-focus in shooting mode, as well as photo geotagging.
While Droid X has an 8-megapixel display with a dual-LED flash. The Droid X offers no tap-to-focus, but it does have a face-detection feature that will automatically focus on a (human) subject. In addition to an Auto mode, the Droid X has a handful of basic scene modes that you can adjust based on the shooting environment: Landscape, Portrait, Macro, Sports, Steady Shot, Sunset, and Night Portrait.
Depending on the powerful configurations, Motorola Droid X is definitely one of the most powerful opponents of iPhone 4.
To help users fully enjoy the Droid X, Aiseesoft has prepared powerful and professional assistant – Blu-ray Ripper.
Aiseesoft Blu-ray Ripper can play a role of Blu-ray to Droid X Converter. It can rip any Blu-ray movie to Droid X compatible video and audio formats. Then users can enjoy the Blu-ray movie with Droid X freely. Also this DVD to Droid X Converter can convert any DVD to Droid X video and audio formats. Moreover, this Blu-ray Ripper is also the Droid X Video Converter, which can convert any popular video files to Droid X.
This Droid X Video Converter also provides users with powerful video editing functions, such as video trimming, cropping, merging, watermarking, etc.
Yesterday, Apple and Verizon announced the CMDA iPhone 4, which is nearly the same as the current GSM iPhone 4 apart from the resign of antenna. However, the iOS 4.2.5 carried by CDMA iPhone 4 bring a totally new feature- personal hot spot. This service can make the iPhone 4 act as a Wi-Fi access point for up-to 5 devices. Then these devices can connect to Verizon’s network. This personal hot spot is not available for GSM iPhone. So these AT&T iPhone users began to wonder when they could enjoy this service.
Today, Apple released the iOS 4.3 beta to the registered developers. And now we know the personal hot spot will be available to all iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3. However, the iOS 4.3 would not support the iPhone 3G, which means iPhone 3G users cannot use this function.
The iOS 4.3 is supposed to be released on March this year. As we all know, the iPad also runs the iOS. Another interesting question is whether this personal hot spot feature will come to iPad with iOS 4.3.
