According to the tech site DigiTimes, retail giant – Amazon’s first tablet PC will come out as soon as the second half of the year.
Taiwan-based Quanta Computer has already gotten orders from Amazon to build the new tablet, which will use E Ink’s electrophoretic display, or “e-paper” technology, for the touch panel.
Since the Kindle sales haven’t done well outside of North America and Europe, Amazon has to release a tablet, which is believed to switch in Amazon’s AppStore and the Amazon Cloud Drive.
Analyst Sarah Rotman Epps said she thinks that Amazon tablet should sell at or below cost with Amazon earning the bulk of its profits by selling content.
According to the reports, Amazon tablet PC monthly orders are expected to reach about 700,000-800,000 units during the peak season.
